Mechanized Facilities – 1970s – 1990s The selection of high quality materials for the construction of the facilities, along with the design of systems offering unparalleled reliability and an extended working life, have always been the driving force behind the philosophy of Agristrade. Familiar to members of this sector are the trademark cobalt blue or green structures increasingly observed along roads and motorways.
These are the noted facilities built in special vitrified sheet steel which have demonstrated over three decades a total resistance to the corrosion posed by aggressive deciers (calcium chloride and sodium chloride in solid form or in water solution) and their perfect conservation in a hermetic environment. Numerous facilities are still operating perfectly despite a life that in many cases has well exceeded thirty years without maintenance performed. A prime example is the facility owned by the City of Bolzano installed in 1970 in the city centre. In 1998, this unit was transferred to a new location outside the city near the Bolzano Airport. The disassembly and subsequent reassembly of the vitrified sheet steel of the silo and the tanks for the saline solutions gave occasion to confirm their total integrity 28 years after their original installation, and as a consequence they were fully reutilized. Today, 35 years later, the original facility, enhanced with new weighing systems and information technology, continues to perform its functions faultlessly.
