Main advantages: - Corrosion-proofing
The facility is built entirely in high quality materials (vitrified sheet metal for the container, INOX AISI 316 L stainless steel for the discharge equipment, galvanized steel for framework and auxiliary structures) which have demonstrated extreme durability in previous installations. - Seal-proofing
Because the facility is completely seal proof (verified with a leak test when installation is completed), the ensilaged material receives optimum storage; the salt maintains is chemical-physical characteristics over time (even years), guaranteeing in all situations the correct loading of the vehicles used for spreading.- Discharge speed
The simplified discharge system enables the operators to effect a fully automatic discharge of 10,000 kg of salt in less than one minute without having to move the vehicle to ensure even distribution of the deicer inside the vehicle body. This translates into quick and effective spreading operations by road maintenance vehicles. As a result, carriageways are cleared faster and automobile safety is increased. It is a noted fact that prompt spreading of salt on roadways avoids or reduces to a minimum slowdowns and/or accidents resulting in serious interruptions in road circulation. - Discharge precision
Each column of the facility rests on a high-precision load cell (maximum combined error 0,075%), which makes it possible to perform statistical management of the quantities stocked and supplied by the plant. - Reduced power consumption
The amount of power required for each salt discharge procedure is 1.5 kW. This is limited to the power used for the movement of the discharge gate, i.e., the phases (lasting fractions of a second) when the gate opens and closes at the start and end of the discharge. The expenses for the management and maintenance of this process are minimal. - Reliability
The gravity salt discharge system and the presence of emergency equipment to be used as an alternative guarantee the dispensing of the deicer even when power it completely cut off.- Minor environmental impact
The use of large-diameter silos has made it possible to reduce the facilities height while maintaining the cubic volume, serving to limit the environmental impact of the structure. In addition, a colour green has recently been used to coat the special vitrifications, helping to make the facilities blend in with the landscape.
